This is a NO-DROP Ride as much as possible, with a target overall average speed of 13.5 mph, going slower on climbs, faster on flats or downhills.

Depart from Ingles with an immediate climb up Hwy. 9 to the Continental Divide. Thereafter, we'll make a large loop through hills, farmland, and forest before descending Hwy. 9 back into Black Mountain. The initial 3 miles on highway 9 out of Black Mountain can be busy.

While the ride is relatively short, it comes in at 100 ft/mi, so it is not without its challenges.
