Biography
I returned to my native state in 2017 and, armed with a supportive 34/36 gearset, have taken on the hilly terrain of western NC on my flat handlebar Focus frame road bike. I never participated in group rides until coming here and am enjoying the opportunities for friendship, exercise and appreciating the scenery. I've also enjoyed challenging myself in the groups to ride a little faster, harder, steeper than I thought I could. That said, I do like to "stop and smell the roses", take in the scenery and points of interest while riding. On most of the hilly club rides I do, it seems that 13-14 mph is the average I can do with an acceptable discomfort level ;).
I live in the north Asheville area close to Elk Mountain Scenic Highway and the Asheville Country Club and often will do a quick out and back to the top of Elk Mountain when I have a free hour or so and the weather is inviting.
