RIDE DESCRIPTION: Challenging 22mi loop from Fletcher Park. Climbing over Terry's Gap and up Howard Gap. We'll try and maintain a 17mph pace. This is a drop ride, if you're not comfortable with the pace be sure you have the route or are prepared to head back. We'll have quick regroups along the way at intersections as needed
LEVEL EXPLANATION: Levels 1 & 2
These levels are intended for the fittest and most experienced riders in our Club. Many of these rides will be “drop” rides, and all riders will be expected to have excellent bike handling skills, familiarity with pacelines and experience with all types of terrain. These will often be longer rides, frequently with significant climbing. Regrouping and a rest stop are at the discretion of the ride leader, depending on the route and the distance. E-bikes are a rarity.
PARKING CONSIDERATIONS: Park near the Restrooms.
HYDRATION, NOURISHMENT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESTROOMS: Restrooms at the Park, faucets in restrooms can be used to fill water bottles. Water fountain is not operational at this time. No rest stops.
EQUIPMENT: Helmets and water bottles are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer, phone, or printed cue sheet. Front-facing headlights and rear blinking lights are required for this ride due to the majority of the ride being before sun rise. Your bike must be equipped with the necessary lights or reflectors in accordance with applicable North Carolina and federal law and statutes governing bicycles. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues. NOTE: All rides leave promptly at the time stated. Give yourself enough time (at least fifteen minutes) to get your bike unloaded and all geared up!
