We'll leave from Mills River Brewing and ride a good mix of lightly traveled flat roads and limited climbs venturing from Mills River through Etowah and south to Brevard. Our mid-point rest stop will be at Silvermont Mansion, mile 33.
Dawn is targeting a 15 mph avg pace (slower climbing, faster descending), pace level 4. We'll regroup at the rest stop and as needed. Always ensure you have the route, can ride a Level 4 pace, and are fully self-sufficient to complete the ride on your own and have the ride leader's cell number if dropped.
The forecast for Thursday, 1/22, is currently in the mid-50s with light wind. As we know, the weather can change. Check the calendar the morning of the ride (or register to receive an email if the ride is cancelled).
Registration is optional - so others can see who is riding and you'll receive cancellation emails.
EQUIPMENT: Helmets are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer or phone. Daytime front and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for all rides. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues.
WEATHER: Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. Western NC (and SC) is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
