About this event
Let's take advantage of the warm weather this week and do a flat-ish (at least no significant climbs) ride from Trailside. 50 miles and 2,971 ft elevation.
We'll leave from Trailside Brewing and ride through Flat Rock to get to apple country. We'll finish the rollers on Little River Rd and the climb on Howard Gap Loop Rd in the first 15 miles. Then we'll ride through Dana, Edneyville, and Fruitland out in apple country before returning to Trailside through Jackson Park and Main Street Hendersonville. Our mid-point rest stop will be at Griffin's Grocery (mile 24).
I'm targeting 14-15 mph avg pace (slower climbing, faster descending), pace level 4. We'll regroup at the rest stop and as needed. Always ensure you have the route, can ride a Level 4 pace, and are fully self-sufficient to complete the ride on your own and have the ride leader's cell number if dropped. Contact the ride leader if you have any questions.
Registration is optional - so others can see who is riding. If the ride is cancelled, registered riders will receive email notification.
EQUIPMENT: Helmets are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer or phone. Daytime headlights and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for all rides. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues.
WEATHER: Check the calendar the morning of the ride for final updates. Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. Western NC (and SC) is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
