About this event
Looks like Wednesday is going to be quite warm compared to the rest of this week. So I'm doing a ride from Trailside. We haven't done the Willow route in several months.
We'll leave from Trailside Brewing and climb Willow Rd to warm up early. And then we ride around Etowah up to Mills River Brewing for a short break at the halfway point. We can also stop at Etowah Park (34mi) before we return via Evans and Kanuga River Rd.
I plan to ride at a Level 4. We'll regroup at MRB halfway point, and as needed. Always ensure you have the route, can ride a Level 4 pace, and are fully self-sufficient to complete the ride on your own and have the ride leader's cell number if dropped. Art plans to ride at Level 3, 14.7–15.5mph.
Registration is optional - so others can see who is riding.
PARKING CONSIDERATIONS: Park away from the entrance.
HYDRATION, NOURISHMENT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESTROOMS: Restrooms at Ecusta Cafe. Restrooms available at Mills River Brewing and Etowah Park.
EQUIPMENT: Helmets and water bottles are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer or phone. Front facing headlights and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for this ride. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues.
WEATHER: Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. We will try to send out an email if that happens, but Western NC (and SC) is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
