About this event

RIDE DESCRIPTION:  The forecast for Thursday claims it will be sunny with cool, fall-like temps.  Another great day for a ride!

We'll start at Etowah Park and ride over the "easy" side of Jeter Mountain - a long, gentle climb (about 5 miles, 1.8% avg grade).  We then head to Cascade Lake Rd/Hart Rd on our way to our rest stop at the Triangle Stop convenience store (mile 26) before returning to Etowah Park.

38 miles and only 2,342 feet of elevation!  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/32874914

I plan to ride a 14-15 mph avg moving pace - a solid Level 4.  This is a NO DROP ride and we'll regroup as needed and at the Triangle Stop rest stop.  Always ensure you have the route, can ride a Level 4 pace, and are fully self-sufficient to complete the ride on your own and have the ride leader's cell number if dropped.

Ride Level Characteristics from Choosing a BRBC Ride

Registration is optional - so others can see who is riding.

PARKING CONSIDERATIONS:  Plenty of parking.

HYDRATION, NOURISHMENT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESTROOMS:  Restrooms at Etowah Park.  Restrooms, water, and food available at the rest stop (Triangle Stop convenience store).

EQUIPMENT: Helmets and water bottles are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer, phone, or printed cue sheet. Front facing headlights and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for this ride and required on the Blue Ridge Parkway unless appropriate reflectors are attached. Your bike must be equipped with the necessary lights or reflectors in accordance with applicable North Carolina and federal law and statutes governing bicycles. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues.

NOTE: All rides leave promptly at the time stated. Give yourself enough time (at least fifteen minutes) to get your bike unloaded and all geared up!

WEATHER: Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. We will try to send out an email if that happens, but Western NC (and SC) is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
