About this event

RIDE DESCRIPTION:  The forecast for Thursday claims it will be sunny with cool, fall-like temps.  Great day for a ride!

Last minute update:  Linda will lead a Level 2 group that will add in Jump Off Rock at the end.    JAXPK-JumpOff-42

We'll start at Jackson Park, Hendersonville, ride through apple orchards to Flat Rock Village Bakery (rest stop, mile 14), then return by a loop past Carl Sandberg's estate and over Jones Gap/Indian Cove.  The climb on Hebron up to Jones Gap is the only significant climb on this route.  Route details here:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28165124

I plan to ride a 14 mph avg moving pace - a solid Level 4.  This is a NO DROP ride and we'll regroup at the Flat Rock Bakery.  Always ensure you have the route, can ride a Level 4 pace, and are fully self-sufficient to complete the ride on your own and have the ride leader's cell number if dropped.

Ride Level Characteristics from Choosing a BRBC Ride

Registration is optional - so others can see who is riding.

PARKING CONSIDERATIONS:  Park near the Glover St entrance to Jackson Park.

HYDRATION, NOURISHMENT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESTROOMS:  Restrooms at Jackson Park.  Restrooms, water, and food available at Flat Rock Bakery.

EQUIPMENT: Helmets and water bottles are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer, phone, or printed cue sheet. Front facing headlights and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for this ride and required on the Blue Ridge Parkway unless appropriate reflectors are attached. Your bike must be equipped with the necessary lights or reflectors in accordance with applicable North Carolina and federal law and statutes governing bicycles. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues.

NOTE: All rides leave promptly at the time stated. Give yourself enough time (at least fifteen minutes) to get your bike unloaded and all geared up!

WEATHER: Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. We will try to send out an email if that happens, but Western NC (and SC) is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
