About this event

RIDE NAME
Trailside Lamb Mtn 49

RIDE DESCRIPTION:  It's apple season so this ride stops at Justus Orchard for your favorite apple treat!  The Orchard is an optional stop - turn left on Garren Rd at mile 33.5 to visit the orchard with me.  https://justusorchard.com/

This route is one of the Trailside Lamb Mtn routes.  We'll ride past Lake Osceola and the Carl Sandberg home in Flat Rock, then up Lamb Mtn and down Gilliam Mtn Rd before heading towards Fruitland and the optional stop at Justus Orchard (mile 34).  We'll return through apple orchards to Trailside.  49 mi/3,239' (66ft/mi) Lamb Mtn is the only significant climb on this route, although there are some rollers.

I hope to ride around a 14.5 mph avg moving pace - Level 4.  This is a DROP Ride because I will lead from the back and stop at Justus Orchard.  Always ensure you have the route and are fully self-sufficient to complete the ride on your own and have the ride leader's cell number if dropped.

Ride Level Characteristics from Choosing a BRBC Ride

Registration is optional - so others can see who is riding.

PARKING CONSIDERATIONS:  Park in the designated Trail lot at Trailside.

HYDRATION, NOURISHMENT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESTROOMS:  Restrooms, water, and food available at Ecusta Market and Cafe.

EQUIPMENT: Helmets and water bottles are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer, phone, or printed cue sheet. Front facing headlights and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for this ride and required on the Blue Ridge Parkway unless appropriate reflectors are attached. Your bike must be equipped with the necessary lights or reflectors in accordance with applicable North Carolina and federal law and statutes governing bicycles. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues.

NOTE: All rides leave promptly at the time stated. Give yourself enough time (at least fifteen minutes) to get your bike unloaded and all geared up!

WEATHER: Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. We will try to send out an email if that happens, but Western NC (and SC) is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
