About this event

RIDE NAME & ROUTE
:  ~TSide-WorldsEdge-45

RIDE DESCRIPTION:  Gentle rolling hills on the first half, with some hills in the second half. Climb Gilliam Mtn Rd to the end of Worlds Edge Road, then turn around and return to Hendersonville via Oleta Rd. Griffins Grocery at mile 13. 67 ft/mi

Ecusta Cafe is open! Same hours as the Market, 8am - 8pm.

Ride starts at Trailside Brewing on the Ecusta Trail at 873 Lenox Park Dr, Hendersonville NC 28739.

Linda typically rides 16-17 mph moving pace - Level 2, but the average speed will be lower when there's substantial climbing on the route. Art will lead Level 3-4. Bruce will lead Level 3.  Dawn will sweep today's route at a slow Level 4 pace.  This is a Regroup Ride. Anyone dropped from the front group can join the back group.  Always ensure you have the route and are fully self-sufficient to complete the ride on your own and have the ride leader's cell number if dropped.

Ride Level Characteristics from Choosing a BRBC Ride

Levels 1 & 2

These levels are intended for the fittest and most experienced riders in our Club.  Many of these rides will be “drop” rides, and all riders will be expected to have excellent bike handling skills, familiarity with pacelines and experience with all types of terrain. These will often be longer rides, frequently with significant climbing. Regrouping and a rest stop are at the discretion of the ride leader, depending on the route and the distance.

Levels 3 & 4

Rides at these levels can vary significantly in distance, climbing, regrouping policy and the presence of a rest stop. Rides may be either drop or no drop. Level 3 & 4 riders are fit, and are typically experienced cyclists with excellent bike handling skills. Riders may have ridden at a higher level in the past, but they may no longer be able to or be interested in the intensity, pace lines and aggressive climbing of level 1 & 2 rides. There are some e-bikes as riders try to remain with their preferred groups.

Registration is optional - so others can see who is riding.

PARKING CONSIDERATIONS:  Park away from the entrances at Trailside.

HYDRATION, NOURISHMENT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESTROOMS:  Restrooms and food available at Ecusta Market and Cafe.

EQUIPMENT: Helmets and water bottles are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer, phone, or printed cue sheet. Front facing headlights and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for this ride and required on the Blue Ridge Parkway unless appropriate reflectors are attached. Your bike must be equipped with the necessary lights or reflectors in accordance with applicable North Carolina and federal law and statutes governing bicycles. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues.

NOTE: All rides leave promptly at the time stated. Give yourself enough time (at least fifteen minutes) to get your bike unloaded and all geared up!

WEATHER: Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. We will try to send out an email if that happens, but Western NC (and SC) is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
