About this event
RIDE NAME: MRB-Rosman-64
RWGPS LINK: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41000698
RIDE DESCRIPTION: AOTC has been rescheduled due to the fires. AOTC 100K mileage prep ride - all the miles, none of climbing!
Keep an eye on the fires - we won't ride into burning flames or heavy smoke. Air Quality Forecast
Start at Mills River Brewing. Ride along the French Broad River to Rosman and back, passing through Etowah and Brevard. This is a relatively flat ride so the pace may be a little faster, especially if the wind is mild. It's also easy to cut short by turning back early (Brevard/Oskar Blues). Our rest stops will be at the following points: Mile 31 - Exxon/Corner Mart, Mile 49 - Triangle Stop, Mile 56 - Etowah Park (restrooms only).
We have three ride leaders to lead groups at C+, B, and A- Paces so we should have a group for you! This will be a Drop ride and each group will stop or regroup as needed.
Gayle’s B pace group will target 17 mph (range 16.8-17.5) and will have one store stop at mile 31.5 We will have a smooth, safe paceline without surging or racing off the front
PARKING CONSIDERATIONS: Park in the grass overflow lot to the left of the entrance.
HYDRATION, NOURISHMENT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESTROOMS: Porta-potties available at MRB.
EQUIPMENT: Helmets and water bottles are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer, phone, or printed cue sheet. Front-facing headlights and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for this ride and required on the Blue Ridge Parkway unless appropriate reflectors are attached. Your bike must be equipped with the necessary lights or reflectors in accordance with applicable North Carolina and federal law and statutes governing bicycles. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues.
NOTE: All rides leave promptly at the time stated. Give yourself enough time (at least fifteen minutes) to get your bike unloaded and all geared up!
WEATHER: Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. We will try to send out an email if that happens, but Western NC (and SC) is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
