About this event
RIDE NAME: Tside-WorldsEdge-45
RWGPS LINK: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49777402
RIDE DESCRIPTON: Looks like we get a preview of spring this Tuesday! Although Appalachian Coffee is closed on Tuesdays, Ecusta Market is open. I've made arrangements to have the bathrooms open at the ride start.
Ride starts at Trailside Brewing in Hendersonville. Gentle rolling hills on the first half, with some hills in the second half. Climb Bald Rock Rd (caution at the one lane section) to the end of Worlds Edge Road, then turn around and return to Hendersonville via Oleta Rd. Our mid-point rest stop/regrouping point will be at the Justice Academy (restrooms available), mile 20. We will also regroup at the Worlds Edge turn around point (mile 27). 45 miles, 3,000 feet of elevation, 67 ft/mile.
I plan to ride around a 14.5 mph avg pace - C+ Pace. Linda will be riding at a B Pace, around 16-17 mph avg. This is a DROP Ride although anyone dropped from the B group can join the C group. Always ensure you have the route and are fully self-sufficient to complete the ride on your own and have the ride leader's cell number if dropped.
PARKING CONSIDERATIONS: Park away from the entrances at Trailside.
HYDRATION, NOURISHMENT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESTROOMS: Restrooms and food available at Ecusta Market/Trailside.
EQUIPMENT: Helmets and water bottles are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer, phone, or printed cue sheet. Front facing headlights and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for this ride and required on the Blue Ridge Parkway unless appropriate reflectors are attached. Your bike must be equipped with the necessary lights or reflectors in accordance with applicable North Carolina and federal law and statutes governing bicycles. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues.
NOTE: All rides leave promptly at the time stated. Give yourself enough time (at least fifteen minutes) to get your bike unloaded and all geared up!
WEATHER: Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. We will try to send out an email if that happens, but Western NC (and SC) is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
