Events - Event View

We are exploring north of I-40, beginning near Swannanoa then heading east to Black Mountain. The route reflects 45 miles. We are shortening it to 36 miles by eliminating two sections.
a. 3 miles at the 2nd out-n-back at mile 6.5.
b. 6 miles by not doing the out-n-back to Old Fort which will begin when your device reached 20.6 miles.
At mile 3 we will do the out-n-back on Left Fork Rd to the reservoir. Next section of interest will be a scenic loop of the Montreat campus. Next we go through Black Mountain and descend the scenic bike/pedestrian Point Lookout Trail which is the old-old Highway 70. At the bottom, take a left onto Mill Creek Road, toward the Andrews Geyser. Next up is 1 miles of hard-pack gravel. We return to Black Mountain on old Highway 70 then trace our way back on North Fork Rd to the parking lot.
Option – bring a sandwich and beverage for afterwards. There are no open restaurants in the immediate area.

Park on the left side of the building, as you enter the lot. There are no restrooms at the start.
