This is a beautiful ride using the "side door" into Marshall with a return through scenic Jenkins Valley.
For an off-route bailout at mile 28.5 stay on NC-251 for 6.3 miles back to Riverside Park for a total of 34.8 miles/2931 feet of climbing. Note that NC-251 may have a high volume of traffic.
