Asheville on Bikes is partnering with Strive Beyond, the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club, Mountain Haulers, and the Asheville Recyclery to host the annual Ride of Silence on Wednesday, May 17th at 7pm.
The Ride of Silence is an international event which honors the people who have been killed or injured as a result of vehicular violence. According to North Carolina’s Vision Zero Crash Data, 53 pedestrians and 4 bicyclists have been killed on roads in Asheville since 2000.
Asheville’s Ride of Silence gathers at 6:30pm at Pack Square Park (80 Court Plaza, Asheville, NC 28801) and will roll at 7pm. Participants are encouraged to wear white and ride with front lights and back flashers. The route is a little over 7 miles and can be previewed via AoB’s Ride With GPS, Ride of Silence event page.
