For the past several years advocates for child safety with the Town of Mills River have applied for and received free bicycle helmets from the specialty license plate program with NC DOT. This year once again, Michelle Murdock, Recreation Programs Coordinator for Mills River, has asked if BRBC can help with fitting and distributing these helmets to children. Unfortunately, Peggy and I will be out of town.
The task involves getting to the Mills River Park at about 1:30, setting up the BRBC tent, unpacking and sorting the helmets, and then start fitting at 3 PM until 5 PM or until the helmets are gone.
This opportunity is one way for BRBC members to demonstrate that we are involved in our communities and willing to help keep young cyclists safe.
