I'm just going to throw this in here, as I can't find a different place to post it. I'm a relatively new member of BRBC, and as a general rule, I've been really happy doing the rides and meeting people. I've been riding a bike since I was 4 years old, and cycling seriously (i.e., group rides, competition) for well over 40 years. This is the first cycling group of which I've been part that has welcomed e-bikes. I don't ride one, and I was a bit skeptical, but mostly I've found that the e-bike riders in group rides in which I've participated have been respectful of those of us who are still testing our personal "motors".
BRBC has a policy on e-bikes, which one can find here: https://brbcnc.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=285841&module_id=403681.
I would note the final paragraph: "A couple of years ago an early adopting e-bike riding Club member penned an article for the monthly Newsletter. He stressed knowing one's machine well, riding consistently, and respecting the group dynamics by not pushing the pace nor smoking people on every uphill. His advice is still valid today." If one is riding an e-bike and sitting on the front, particularly on climbs, then you are probably "pushing the pace". It is not cool, and most of the riders behind you are probably praying for a battery failure or electrical storm between gasps for breath.
So don't be that person, okay? Thanks for reading.
