Weekly Cycle Tip: CHAINS
Chains are cheap in the scheme of things so change them when needed. Failure to replace a worn chain risks the destruction of your much more expensive cassette. Cassettes should last 3, and even 4 chains, if chains are changed at the correct interval. By 2,500 miles, ask your bike store to check your chain for wear. Keep in mind that stretch (wear) ramps up sharply at the end of a chain's life. This means more frequent checks. Buy more expensive chains if you desire lighter weight and more polish. Otherwise, less expensive chains replaced more frequently is a very good plan.
