About this event
RIDE NAME: BMP - Garren Creek Loops 45
RWGPS LINK: Garren Creek Loops
RIDE DESCRIPTION: 45miles - 3475ft - 75 ft/mi - 15/16mph avg
Beautiful ride out of Fletcher Park with an out of the way ride out to Fairview, then looping through Garren Creek arriving back in Rynolds and going over Chestnut Hill back into Cane Creek and a direct shot back to the park. Garren Creek Fire Station will be our stop at MM23. There may be other opportunities for stops later on, regrouping as needed
LEVEL EXPLANATION: Levels 1 & 2
These levels are intended for the fittest and most experienced riders in our Club. Many of these rides will be “drop” rides, and all riders will be expected to have excellent bike handling skills, familiarity with pacelines and experience with all types of terrain. These will often be longer rides, frequently with significant climbing. Regrouping and a rest stop are at the discretion of the ride leader, depending on the route and the distance. E-bikes are a rarity.
PARKING CONSIDERATIONS: Park across from the restrooms at Fletcher Park, along the Approach Rd
HYDRATION, NOURISHMENT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESTROOMS: Fletcher Park has restrooms, water bottle fill station and bike repair stand. Garren Creek Fire is graciously allowing us to fill water bottles and use the restroom UNLESS THEY ARE OUT ON A CALL. There will still be water available, but we might need to get creative with nature breaks.
EQUIPMENT: Helmets and water bottles are mandatory. Have the route on your bike computer, phone, or printed cue sheet. Front-facing headlights and rear blinking lights are highly recommended for this ride unless appropriate reflectors are attached. Your bike must be equipped with the necessary lights or reflectors in accordance with applicable North Carolina and federal law and statutes governing bicycles. You should be fully self-sufficient for repair of flat tires or small mechanical issues. NOTE: All rides leave promptly at the time stated. Give yourself enough time (at least fifteen minutes) to get your bike unloaded and all geared up! WEATHER: Please remember if the weather looks "iffy" or gets bad before the start date and time, then the ride leaders may not be there and you will be riding on your own. We will try to send out an email if that happens, but Western NC is a very large area and some places could be sunshine and other places bad weather.
